Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement LHD

Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 2.6L and 3.2L.
  3. Remove the intake air resonator. Refer to Intake Air Resonator Replacement in Engine Controls  - 2.6L and 3.2L.
  4. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement in Body Front End.

  5. Object Number: 802720  Size: SH
  6. Remove the power steering pressure hose retaining nut from the air conditioning compressor.

  7. Object Number: 798947  Size: SH
  8. Remove the clip from the power steering pressure hose.

  9. Object Number: 794623  Size: SH
  10. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.

  11. Object Number: 798334  Size: SH
  12. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  13. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering gear.

  14. Object Number: 798341  Size: SH
  15. Remove the power steering pressure hose mounting bolt.
  16. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 798341  Size: SH

    Important: Loosely install the pressure hose and retainers before tightening.

  1. Install the power steering pressure hose.
  2. Install the power steering pressure hose retaining bolt.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose retaining bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

    Important: Install a new seal on the power steering pressure hose before installing to the power steering gear.

  4. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear.

  5. Object Number: 806373  Size: SH
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  8. Install the power steering pressure hose fitting to the power steering pump.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the hose to pump fitting to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

    Important: When installing the power steering pressure hose into the power steering pump a distinct click should be heard when the hose is fully seated.

  10. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.

  11. Object Number: 802720  Size: SH
  12. Install the power steering pressure hose retaining nut to the air conditioning compressor.
  13. Tighten

        • Tighten the hose to air compressor retaining nut to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
        • Tighten the hose to the gear retaining bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
        • Tighten the hose to gear fittings to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  14. Install the clip to the power steering pressure hose.
  15. Install the intake air resonator. Refer to Intake Air Resonator Replacement in Engine Controls  - 2.6L and 3.2L.
  16. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 2.6L and 3.2L.
  17. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  18. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  19. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement in Body Front End.

Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement RHD

Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 2.6L and 3.2L.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  4. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement in Body Front End.

  5. Object Number: 802720  Size: SH
  6. Remove the power steering pressure hose retaining nut from the air conditioning compressor.
  7. Lower the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 794623  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.
  10. Raise the vehicle.

  11. Object Number: 827922  Size: SH
  12. Remove the power steering pressure hose to cradle mounting bolt.

  13. Object Number: 827920  Size: SH
  14. Remove the power steering pressure hose retaining clips from the cradle.

  15. Object Number: 827923  Size: SH
  16. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering gear.
  17. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 827923  Size: SH

    Important: Loosely install the pressure hose and retainers before tightening.

  1. Install the power steering pressure hose to the vehicle.
  2. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose to steering gear to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  4. Push the power steering pressure hose retaining clips into the cradle.

  5. Object Number: 827922  Size: SH
  6. Install the power steering pressure hose to cradle mounting bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose to cradle mounting bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  8. Lower the vehicle.

  9. Object Number: 806373  Size: SH
  10. Install the power steering pressure hose fitting to the power steering pump.
  11. Important: When installing the power steering pressure hose into the power steering pump a distinct click should be heard when the hose is fully seated.

  12. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.
  13. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  14. Install the power steering pressure hose retaining nut to the air conditioning compressor.

        • Tighten the hose to pump fitting to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
        • Tighten the hose to air condition compressor nut to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
        • Tighten the hose to cradle bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
        • Tighten the hose to gear 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
  16. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement in Body Front End.
  17. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 2.6L and 3.2L.
  18. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  19. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
