Door Ajar Indicator System Components
The door ajar indicator system consists of the following components.
• | Driver door module (DDM) |
• | Passenger front door module (PDM) |
• | Left rear door module (LRDM) |
• | Right rear door module (RRDM) |
• | Driver information center (DIC) |
• | Integrated radio chassis (IRC) |
• | LH front door ajar switch |
• | RH front door ajar switch |
• | LH rear door ajar switch |
• | RH rear door ajar switch |
The door ajar indicator system only function is to alert the vehicle operator
when a vehicle door has inadvertently been left ajar or open. Failure of the door
ajar indicator system do not affect door locks or any other vehicle system.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR
The driver door module (DDM) receives a discrete input from the driver door
ajar switch. The integrated radio chassis (IRC) receives the status of the driver
door from the DDM via class 2 serial data message. When the driver door is
open and the vehicle is out of the PARK gear, the message is displayed on the driver
information center (DIC). Also, if the vehicle speed is greater than 4.8 km/h
(3 mph), the DIC displays the message and sends a class 2 serial data
message requesting 5 chimes to sound.
PASSENGER DOOR AJAR
The passenger front door module (PDM) receives a discrete input from the passenger
front door ajar switch. The integrated radio chassis (IRC) receives the status of
the passenger front door from the PDM via class 2 serial data message. When
the passenger front door is open and the vehicle is out of the PARK gear, the message
is displayed on the driver information center (DIC). Also, if the vehicle speed is
greater than 4.8 km/h (3 mph), the DIC displays the message and sends
a class 2 serial data message requesting 5 chimes to sound.
LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR
The left rear door module (LRDM) receives a discrete input from the left rear
door ajar switch. The integrated radio chassis (IRC) receives the status of the LH
rear door from the LRDM via class 2 serial data message. When the LH rear door
is open and the vehicle is out of the PARK gear, the message is displayed on the driver
information center (DIC). Also, if the vehicle speed is greater than 4.8 km/h
(3 mph), the DIC displays the message and sends a class 2 serial data
message requesting 5 chimes to sound.
RIGHT REAR DOOR AJAR
The right rear door module (RRDM) receives a discrete input from the RH rear
door ajar switch. The integrated radio chassis (IRC) receives the status of the RH
rear door from the RRDM via class 2 serial data message. When the RH rear door
is open and the vehicle is out of the PARK gear, the message is displayed on the driver
information center (DIC). Also, if the vehicle speed is greater than 4.8 km/h
(3 mph), the DIC displays the message and sends a class 2 serial data
message requesting 5 chimes to sound.
