GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only

Important: If the radio setup is not performed after replacing the radio, the digital radio receiver, vehicle communication interface module (VCIM), disc player and video display, and the steering wheel controls may not work properly. The radio may display a calibrate message on the display.

Important: On vehicles equipped with a navigation radio, due to the digital radio receiver storing prior presets it is possible that the displayed digital radio preset will not match the actual digital radio preset stored in the digital radio receiver after radio replacement. To avoid this, observe and record the digital radio presets of the old navigation radio and reprogram the new navigation radio with the recorded presets.

Radio Theft Procedure

Important: Do not perform the option configuration procedure for the navigation radio.

Important: The radio theft will learn the VIN. Without learning the VIN, the radio will display a locked message (LOC or LOCKED).

If the radio is replaced, perform a VIN Relearn, located in the Special Functions section on the scan tool. Cycle the ignition when complete.

Option Configuration (Without Navigation)

Important: Do not perform this procedure for the navigation radio. Damage to the navigation radio may occur.

For option configuration select Special Functions under Radio and complete the setup procedure.
