Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 707968  Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolts that secure the impact bar (1) to the front energy absorbers.
  5. Remove the front impact bar (1) from the energy absorbers.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the front impact bar (1) to the front energy absorbers.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts in order to secure the impact bar to the energy absorbers.
  4. 2.1. Install the inboard bolts on the right side first.
    2.2. Install the inboard bolt on the left side second.
    2.3. Install the remaining outboard bolt third.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft) in sequence, as illustrated.

  5. Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  6. Lower the vehicle.
