Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 758987 Size: SH
  1. Place window in the full up position.
  2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  3. Pull the rear of the water deflector away from the door panel to access the outside door handle. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .

    4. Object Number: 758741 Size: SH
  4. Remove the theft shield screws (2), if equipped with theft shield.

    5. Object Number: 758721 Size: SH
  5. Remove the theft shield push-in retainer (1) from the door handle, if equipped.
  6. Disconnect the lock cylinder rod from the door latch.

    7. Object Number: 507065 Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the outside door handle rod (1) by opening the retainer (2) at the door latch.

  8. Remove the door handle nuts.

    9. Object Number: 334828 Size: SH
  9. Remove the door handle with handle rod and lock rod attached.
  10. Remove the handle rod and lock cylinder rod from the outside door handle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 758979 Size: SH
  1. Install the handle rod and lock cylinder rod to the outside door handle.

    2. Object Number: 758987 Size: SH
  2. Install the door handle, with rods attached, to the door.
    3. 2.1. Insert the rods through cut out.
    2.2. Rotate the handle into position.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the outside door handle nuts.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  4. Connect the lock cylinder rod to the door latch.

  5. Connect the door handle rod to the latch.
    6. 5.1. Insert the rod (1) into the clip (2) on the door latch assembly.
    5.2. Close the clip.

  6. Inspect for proper operation of the door handle and lock cylinder.
  7. Install the theft shield into the door, if equipped.
  8. Install the theft shield retainer (1) into the hole in the door handle.

    9. Object Number: 758741 Size: SH
  9. Install the theft shield screws (2).

    10. Tighten
    Tighten the screws (2) to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  10. Install the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  11. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
