Removal Procedure
- Place the window in the full up position.
- Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
- Pull back the water deflector far enough to access the outside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
- Disconnect the outside door handle latch rod (1) by opening the retainer (2) on the door latch.
- Remove the outside door handle nuts through the access holes.
- Remove the handle, with latch rod attached, by lifting up and out.
- Remove the handle rod (1) from the door handle (2).
Installation Procedure
- Install the door handle rod (1) to the outside door handle (2).
- Install the door handle and rod into the door.
- Install the outside door handle nuts.
- Connect the door handle rod to the latch.
- Inspect for proper operation of the door handle and latch.
- Install the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
- Install the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).
