Test Description

The number below refers to the step number on the diagnostic table.

  1. This step tests the integrity of the heated seat control module status signal circuit. If the fuse in the jumper wire opens when you perform this test, a short to battery voltage may have occurred.

DEFINITION: The heated seat switch mode indicator is inoperative, but the heated seat system operates OK.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Power Seat Systems?

Verify that the Heated Seat Switch Mode Indicator Malfunction is present.

Does the heated seat switch mode indicator operate as described in the system description and operation?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Is the heated seat switch mode indicator always on?

Go to Step 7

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the heated seat module connector C1.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire from the heated seat control module status signal circuit of the heated seat module connector to a good ground.
  5. Press the appropriate heated seat switch.

Does the heated seat mode indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 8

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Heated Seat Status parameter in the Rear Integration Module data list.
  3. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire from the heated seat control module status signal circuit of the heated seat module connector to a good ground.

Does the Heated Seat Status parameter display ON?

Test the heated seat control module status signal circuit between the rear integration module and the heated seat module for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the heated seat control module status signal circuit between the rear integration module and the heated seat module for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect the for poor connections at the harness connector of the heated seat module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect the for poor connections at the harness connector of the HVAC control module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect the for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear integration module (RIM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the heated seat module. Refer to Front Seat Heater Control Module Replacement .

Replace the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems-Automatic.

Important: After replacement of the RIM perform the set up procedure for the RIM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Replace the rear integration module. Refer to Rear Integration Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
