For 1990-2009 cars only
- Clean the exhaust manifold in solvent.
- Dry the exhaust manifold with compressed air.
- Inspect the exhaust manifold-to-cylinder head gasket surface for excessive scratches or gouging.
- Inspect for a loose or damaged heat shield.
- Use a straight edge and a feeler gage, and measure the exhaust manifolds for warpage. A warped exhaust manifold may cause a leak and may effect the vehicle performance. Exhaust manifolds that are warped must be replaced.
Important: Do not reuse exhaust manifold-to-cylinder head gaskets. Upon installation of the exhaust manifold, install a NEW gasket.
Caution: Wear safety glasses in order to avoid eye damage.
