J 42129 Wheel Hub Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

  3. Object Number: 802013  Size: SH
  4. Remove the stabilizer shaft link lower retaining nut.
  5. Disconnect the stabilizer link from the lower control arm.

  6. Object Number: 787851  Size: SH
  7. Remove the rear wheel drive shaft nut.

  8. Object Number: 818366  Size: SH
  9. Install J 42129 to the wheel bearing/hub.
  10. Using J 42129 disengage the wheel drive shaft from the rear wheel hub and bearing.

  11. Object Number: 728904  Size: SH
  12. Support the lower control arm using a jack.

  13. Object Number: 783074  Size: SH
  14. Remove the lower shock mounting bolt.

  15. Object Number: 783094  Size: SH
  16. Remove the lower control arm to knuckle mounting bolt.

  17. Object Number: 803138  Size: SH
  18. Remove the lower control arm to frame mounting bolt and nut (1).
  19. Separate the lower control arm from the knuckle.
  20. Lower the jack.
  21. Remove the rear coil spring and the lower control arm.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 803138  Size: SH
  1. Install the rear coil spring and the lower control arm to jack.
  2. Raise the jack until lower control arm and rear coil spring is in position in the frame.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the lower control arm to frame mounting bolt and nut (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut (1) to 150 N·m (111 lb ft).

  6. Install the lower control arm to knuckle mounting bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 175 N·m (129 lb ft).


    Object Number: 783074  Size: SH
  8. Install the lower shock mounting bolt.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 150 N·m (111 lb ft).


    Object Number: 787851  Size: SH
  10. Install a new rear wheel drive shaft nut.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 160 N·m (118 lb ft).


    Object Number: 802013  Size: SH
  12. Connect the stabilizer shaft link to the lower control arm.
  13. Install the stabilizer shaft link retaining nut.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  15. Lower the jack.
  16. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18. Check the wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement .
