J 36850 Transjel Lubricant


    Object Number: 816741  Size: SH
  1. Measure the distance from the bottom of the gage bar to the top of the direct and reverse clutch assembly (6). Record this as dimension X. Refer to the Reverse Clutch Housing Selective Thrust Washer Specifications to determine the correct size to use.

  3. Use J 36850 to install the NEW torque converter fluid seal (4) onto the torque converter housing.
  4. Use J 36850 to install the reverse clutch housing thrust washer (5).

  5. Install the NEW fluid pump cover gasket (46).
  6. Install the torque converter housing (3) onto the case (24).
  7. Install the torque converter housing bolts (2) and hand tighten.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Tighten the torque converter housing bolts in sequence.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the housing bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
