Removal Procedure
- Drain the engine coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
- Remove the transmission. Refer to
Transmission Assembly
in Transmission/Transaxle.
- Remove the following intake pipe components:
• | The heater core bypass hose |
• | The intake pipe hose (1) |
• | The radiator outlet hose (2) |
- Slide the coolant intake pipe (4) rearward under the front of
the cowl in order to remove.
- Remove the intake pipe seal (6).
Installation Procedure
- Install the intake pipe seal (6).
- Slide the coolant intake pipe (4) under the front of the cowl
and forward into the proper mounting position.
- Install the following intake pipe components:
• | The coolant intake pipe bolts (5). |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

• | The heater core bypass hose |
- Install the transmission. Refer to
Transmission Assembly
in Transmission/Transaxle.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
