The engine block heater is fastened to the exhaust manifold lower heat shield bolts on the right side of the engine. The power supply cord is routed under the air cleaner housing and stored under the right side radiator cover.
The engine block heater is used in the following ways:
• | To help maintain the viscosity of engine fluids |
• | To provide easier cold starts during extremely low temperatures in frigid environments |
Radiant heat is generated by electrical resistance (supplied by a 110 V power source) within the housing of the heater. |
The engine block heater has a maximum working temperature of 250°C (482°F). Proper placement of the heater and routing of the power supply cord is essential.
