Refer to the Scan Tool Manual for complete information on scan tool diagnostics.

Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)

    • DTC Information: In this mode, DTC history is displayed. This data includes the number of ignition cycles since the DTC was set, along with other system information.
    • Clear DTC Information: In this mode, DTCs stored by the EBTCM may be displayed or cleared.

Data Display

The Data Display list contains a brief description of all ABS/TCS data parameters available on the scan tool.

    • Brake Light Switch--scan tool displays: Applied/Released--This parameter indicates the state of the brake light switch.
    • Left Front Wheel Speed--scan tool displays: Km/h / MPH--Display shows actual wheel speed.
    • Right Front Wheel Speed--scan tool displays: Km/h / MPH--Display shows actual wheel speed.
    • Left Rear Wheel Speed--scan tool displays: Km/h / MPH--Display shows actual wheel speed.
    • Right Rear Wheel Speed--scan tool displays: Km/h / MPH--Display shows actual wheel speed.
    • Delivered Engine Torque--scan tool displays: 0 to 100 %--This parameter represents the delivered engine torque from the Engine Control Module.
    • RPM--scan tool displays: 0 to 10200 RPM--This is essentially a digital tachometer display.
    • Delivered Transmission Torque--scan tool displays: 0 to 100 %--This parameter represents the delivered transmission torque from the Transmission Control Module.
    • Traction Control System Switch--scan tool displays: On/Off--This parameter indicates the state of the traction control switch.
    • Valve Relay--scan tool displays: On/Off--This parameter indicates the state of the valve relay.
    • Return Pump Relay--scan tool displays: On/Off--This parameter indicates the state of the return pump relay.
    • Left Front Solenoid Valve--scan tool displays: Active/Inactive--This display indicates the commanded state of the solenoid valve.
    • Right Front Solenoid Valve--scan tool displays: Active/Inactive--This display indicates the commanded state of the solenoid valve.
    • Rear Solenoid Valve--scan tool displays: Active/Inactive--This display indicates the commanded state of the solenoid valve.

Special Functions

    • Lamp Test: This test allows activation of the ABS indicator or TC indicator to aid in diagnosing indicator malfunctions. The test flashes the indicator every two seconds for a maximum of thirty seconds or until the Yes/No is pressed.
    • Return Pump Relay Test: This test will command the return pump relay on for approximately five seconds. The return pump should run for approximately five seconds.
    • Solenoid Test: This test will operate in three modes; Pressure Increase; Pressure Hold; Pressure Release. The scan tool will actuate the solenoid valve according to the mode of operation. The technician will then be asked by the scan tool if the wheel can be turned, or is locked, depending on which mode of operation is used.

Snapshot

In this test mode, the scan tool captures data before and after a snapshot--triggering condition which may or may not set a DTC.

ABS Programing

Replacement EBTCMs require the variant coding to be programmed in to the EBTCM memory. Program the EBTCM if a new EBTCM is installed in a vehicle. The programming is performed with the scan tool. When ABS Programming is performed with the scan tool, the engine type and the transmission type are coded into the EBTCM memory. The EBTCM requires the engine and transmission coding for TCS operation.
