Disassembly Procedure

    Object Number: 242759 Size: SH
  1. To remove the ignition switch assembly, refer to Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Off Vehicle .
  2. Insert a No. 2 Phillips head screwdriver into the square opening (1) in the tilt spring retainer.
  3. Depress the tilt spring retainer.
  4. Turn the screwdriver to unlock the tilt spring retainer.

    5. Object Number: 242767 Size: SH
  5. Push the tilt spring (2) out towards the front of the column in order to remove the tilt spring retainer (1) and the tilt spring (2).

Assembly Procedure

    Object Number: 242759 Size: SH
  1. Install the tilt spring (2) and the tilt spring retainer (1) between the steering column housing (4) and the steering column housing support (5).
  2. Note: The spring must engage the locating tab (3) on the steering column housing support.
  3. Insert a No. 2 Phillips head screwdriver into the square opening (1) in the tilt spring retainer and turn to lock.
  4. To install the ignition switch assembly, refer to Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Off Vehicle .
