  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  4. Wait one minute until the energy reserve capacitors in the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic and seat belt pretensioner module (SDM) have discharged.
  5. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers.
  6. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement.

  8. Remove the inflatable restraint IP module cover. Refer to SIR Module Cover Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  9. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the inflatable restraint IP module 2-way connector.
  10. Disconnect the inflatable restraint IP module 2-way connector (1).
  11. Remove the LH seat track trim cover.
  12. Disconnect the driver seat belt pretensioner 2-way connector from inline connector C315.
  13. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the LH inflatable restraint front side impact module 2-way connector (if equipped with side air bags).
  14. Disconnect the LH inflatable restraint front side impact module 2-way connector (if equipped with side air bags).
  15. Remove the RH seat track trim cover.
  16. Disconnect the passenger seat belt pretensioner 2-way connector from inline connector C316.
  17. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the RH inflatable restraint front side impact module 2-way connector (if equipped with side air bags).
  18. Disconnect the RH inflatable restraint front side impact module 2-way connector (if equipped with side air bags).
