  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Make sure that the transmission is in the PARK position.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch to the PARK position so that the park lamps are ON.
  4. Cover the photocell on the windshield side with a dark cloth.
  5. Shine a light on the photocell on the mirror side.

The inside rear view mirror gradually darkens.

Automatic Day-Night Mirrors Inoperative

  1. Move the transmission to the REVERSE position.
  2. When the transmission is in the REVERSE position, the inside rear view mirror will gradually lighten to a clear state.
  3. Move the transmission back to the PARK position.
  4. When the transmission is put back to the PARK position, the inside rear view mirror will gradually darken again.
  5. Remove the cloth from the inside rear view mirror.
  6. The inside rear view mirror will gradually lighten to a clear state when the cloth is removed.
    • When the transmission is moved to the REVERSE position, the inside rear view mirror gradually lightens to a clear state.
    • When the transmission is moved back to the PARK position, the inside rear view mirror gradually darkens.
    • The inside rear view mirror lightens to a clear state when the cloth is removed.
    • When the transmission is moved to the REVERSE position, the inside rear view mirror does not gradually lighten to a clear state.
    • When the transmission is moved back to the PARK position, the inside rear view mirror does not gradually darken.
    • The inside rear view mirror does not lighten to a clear state when the cloth is removed.
