Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement for Cadillac Catera 1997

1. Open the rear compartment lid.
2. Remove the rear compartment lid finish panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement
3. Remove the rear compartment manual release handle. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement



4. Remove the screws from the rear compartment lid latch.
5. Remove the rear compartment lid release actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Actuator Replacement
6. Remove the rear compartment lid latch from the compartment lid.

1. Install the rear compartment lid latch to the compartment lid.
2. Install the rear compartment lid release actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Actuator Replacement

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install the screws to the rear compartment lid latch.

Tighten
Tighten rear compartment lid latch screws to 10 N·m (89 in).

4. Install the rear compartment manual release handle. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement in this section.
5. Install the rear compartment lid finish panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement
6. Close the rear compartment lid.
