Mode Valve Actuator Replacement for Cadillac Catera 1998

The mode (floor) actuator (4) is located on the passenger side of the HVAC module, facing toward the front of the vehicle.

1. Remove the defroster valve actuator. Refer to Defroster Valve Actuator Replacement .



2. Disconnect the mode (floor) actuator electrical connector.

Important: The mode actuator linkage (5, 6) may need to be rotated in order to access the screws for the following step.

3. Remove the mode actuator screws.
4. Remove the mode actuator (4) from the linkage.
5. Remove the mode actuator (4) from the vehicle.

1. Install the mode actuator (4) in the vehicle.
2. Install the mode actuator (4) to the linkage.

Important: The mode actuator linkage (5, 6) may need to be rotated in order to access the screw holes for the following step.

3. Install the mode actuator screws until fully seated and not stripped.
4. Connect the mode actuator electrical connector.
5. Install the defroster valve actuator. Refer to Defroster Valve Actuator Replacement .
6. Synchronize the actuators:

•	Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

•	Simultaneously press and hold the AUTO and OFF buttons on the ECC control panel for at least 5 seconds.
