Removal Procedure

The actuator motor, the gear and the potentiometer control module are serviced as a unit.

  1. Remove the sunroof selector knob.
  2. Release the tabs push inward in order to remove the potentiometer.
  3. Remove the dome and the reading lamp cover (3).
  4. Remove the screws from the sunroof actuator motor cover.
  5. Remove the sunroof actuator motor cover.
  6. Pull down and forward in order to unhook the sunroof actuator motor cover from the headliner.
  7. Remove the screws from the sunroof actuator motor.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the sunroof actuator motor.
  9. Turn motor slightly to disengage the motor from the cables.
  10. Remove the actuator motor.

Installation Procedure

Important: Manually push the glass panel rearwards on both sides in order to check that the sunroof is at the maximum open position. This procedure sets both the slide and/or the guide, and the cables.

  1. Install the actuator motor.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the screws to the actuator motor.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the actuator motor screw to 5 N·m  (44 lb in).

  5. Connect the electrical connector to the actuator motor.
  6. Align the front edge of the sunroof actuator motor cover to the headliner and push cover into place.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the screws to the sunroof actuator motor cover.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the sunroof actuator motor cover screws until fully seated and not stripped.

  10. Install the sunroof selector knob.
  11. Install the potentiometer. Insert to the tabs into cover and push downward to lock tabs into place.
  12. Connect the electrical connector to the actuator motor dome and to the reading lamp.
  13. Install the dome and the reading lamp.
  14. Reprogram the sunroof. Verify the proper operation. Refer to Power Sunroof Operation .
