Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 246227  Size: SH
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .
  2. Remove the passenger seat. Refer to Seat Replacement in Seats.
  3. Remove the seat back panel. Refer to Driver Seat and Passenger Seat Back Cushion Finish Panel Replacement in Seats.
  4. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) on the front seat module from the wiring harness connector.
  5. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the front seat module.

  7. Remove 3 nuts from the front seat module.
  8. Remove the front seat module from the seat back.
  9. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the front seat module to the passenger seat back.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install 3 nuts to the front seat module.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  5. Connect the wiring harness connector to the front seat module.
  6. Install the CPA.
  7. Install the seat back panel. Refer to Driver Seat and Passenger Seat Back Cushion Finish Panel Replacement in Seats.
  8. Install the passenger seat. Refer to Seat Replacement in Seats.
  9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .
