LOOSE INSTRUMENT PANEL TRIM PLATE

RIGHT HAND INSTRUMENT PANEL ACCESSORY TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT

Some 1982 Cimarrons may exhibit a condition where the trim plate surrounding the cigar lighter, defogger switch and AC/heater controls is loose or allows light from around the AC/heater controls.

To correct cars exhibiting this condition, replace the trim plate with new trim plate, P/N 1623880, by performing the following procedure:

1. Remove trim plate from instrument panel.

2. Disconnect wiring to cigar lighter and defogger switch.

3. Remove cigar lighter and defogger switch from trim plate.

4. Remove spring clips from trim plate and discard trim plate.

5. Install defogger switch, cigar lighter and spring clips on new trim plate, P/N 1623880.

6. Install "U" nut, P/N 11504531, in instrument panel as shown in illustration.

7. Connect wiring to defogger switch and cigar lighter.

8. Install trim plate on instrument panel.

9. Install retaining screw as shown in the illustration.

For warranty purposes, use Operation No. C2340, Trim Plate - Replace, at 0.2 hours.
