All 1982 Cimarrons have a tire and wheel usage label affixed to the back of the driver's sun visor (see copy of label below). Cadillac designed the Cimarron to exhibit specific ride characteristics competitive with foreign luxury imports. The suspension, tires, and wheels have been specifically matched to maximize the spirited driving feel that this new kind of Cadillac owner desires.
The standard aluminum wheel has been developed to provide a distinctive appearance and is specifically mounted with a specially designed Goodyear tire. This tire and wheel assembly is exclusive to the Cimarron, giving it a specific ride quality not shared with other GM divisions.
For these reasons, Cadillac strongly recommends the original equipment tire and wheel assembly remain on the vehicle. A customer may initially perceive an advantage to after-market equipment, but once the vehicle is driven (with the original wheel/tire assemblies), the superb performance will become evident.
TIRE AND WHEEL USAGE
THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN DESIGNED AND DEVELOPED WITH THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES AND WHEELS. SUBSTITUTION OF DIFFERENT TIRES AND/OR WHEELS MAY ALTER THE VEHICLES RIDE CHARACTERISTICS.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
