Comments of difficulty and time involved in installation of Cimarron Cruise Control Accessory Packages (P/N's 997827 [Man] and 997828 [Autol) have been received. The apparent cause of these comments is removal and replacement of the pipe assembly from air pump to air control valve, particularly on vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. Figure 1, on back of this bulletin, provides a solution to current lengthy installation time. By implementing this new method, labor time can be reduced by approximately 1.8 hours. Total installation time for the entire Cruise Control Accessory Package should be approximately 4.0 hours.
The attached instruction sheet will be included in all Cruise Control Accessory Packages shipped after March 1, 1982. Packages that are received prior to this date will not have the instruction sheet but the labor-saving method should still be used.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
