CRUISE CONTROL SURGE 2.OL. WITH AUTO TRANSMISSION

MODELS AFFECTED: 1983 CIMARRONS WITH 2.0L ENGINE (VIN CODE P), AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND CRUISE CONTROL

Some 1983 Cimarrons with automatic transmissions may exhibit a surging (fluctuation) of vehicle speed while operating in the cruise control mode. This condition is most evident on downhill grades. To service vehicles with this condition, order service package, P/N 14093396. This package contains a new throttte body unit that incorporates a repositioned cruise control stud (see Illustration No. 1).

Service package, P/N 14093396, contains the following:

- R.P.D. service kit, P/N 17111354, contains

- P/N 17080987 - Throttle Body - P/N 17075286 - Fuel Return Nut - P/N 17110370 - Gasket Set

- P/N 14077264 - Fuel Feed Line

- P/N 14072762 - Fuel Feed Bolt

- P/N 14077268 - Fuel Feed 'O' Ring Washers (2 required)

- P/N 25031120 - Cruise Control Servo

- P/N 14093387 - Cruise Control Cable

IMPORTANT: Do not reuse the fuel feed line, fuel return nut, fuel feed bolt, gaskets or washers that were removed from the vehicle. Use the new parts included with the service package. Tighten the fuel feed bolt to 29 N.m (21 ft. lbs.) as shown in Illustration No. 2.

Refer to the service manual for proper installation of the throttle body unit, cruise control servo, and cruise control cable.

For warranty purposes, use labor operation T6139 for 1.1 hours.
