Factory installed Delco-GM/Bose Radio Sound Systems are warranted under the "New Vehicle Warranty" for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Radios requiring repair should be sent to an authorized AC-Delco Radio Sales/Service Center.
All AC-Delco Radio Sales/Service Centers listed in the 1983 Declo Sound Service Managers Guide are authorized to perform warranty repairs on both the Delco-GM/Bose radio received and the speaker amplifier modules. The following Declo-GM/Bose components are included:

Delco-GM/Bose Amplifier 1226070 E Right-and Left-Front
Delco-GM/Bose Amplifier 1226071 E Right-and Left-Rear

Many AC-Delco Radio Sales/Service Centers have available an exchange program for 1983 Delco-GM/Bose radio receivers and amplifier modules in need of repair. However, prior approval of the owner to accept a repaired exchange component must be obtained and noted on the repair order. The exchange program is very helpful in handling touring owners or an owner who objects to driving with the radio removed. Dealers should check with AC-Delco Radio Sales/Service Center to see if the specific component required is available in their exchange stock. Dealers are encouraged to cooperate with the centers to assure that a Cadillac car equipped with a Delco-GM/Bose sound system receives "same day" service or a maximum repair delay of 24 hours.
---------- Whether repairing or exchanging the radio receiver or the amplifier module dealers should never refer the owner to the AC-Delco Radio Sales/Service Center, but should handle the transaction for the owner as follows:
1. After assuring all diagnostic procedures were properly followed remove the component determined to be defective from the car.
2. Inquire with nearby AC-Delco Radio Sales/Service Centers if nessary to determine if an exchange component is currently available. If an exchange Delco-GM/Bose radio receiver or speaker amplifier module is immediately needed but cannot be obtained through a Radio Sales/Service Center, phone Dial Delco (1-800-428-0501 or in Indiana, 1-800-382-0531) for assistance.
3. Completely fill in the red shaded area of the "ACD-1078 Warranty Repair Claim for AC-Delco Items" form and send the defective component and all five (5) copies of the completed form to the authorized AC-Delco Radio Sales/Service Center in the area.
4. The AC-Delco Radio Sales/Service Center will return the repaired or the exchanged component and the dealer copy of the claim to the dealer with the AC-Delco (white area) portion filled out. Reinstall the component in the owner's vehicle.
5. The dealer should submit a warranty claim for the R&R of the unit and freight charges. The dealer copy of the Form ACD-1078 and the freight receipt or shipping invoice are to be attached to the repair order scrapping copy.
6. An additional 0.2 hr. administrative allowance will be paid when radios are repaired under warranty by an AC-Delco Radio Sales/Service Center or other qualified service outlet. This additional time should be listed as "other labor hours" on the claim.
It is the responsibility of the dealership to diagnose and repair radio interference conditions caused by other components on the vehicle. In unusual cases where the dealership has been unable to determine the cause of the interference, it may be necessary to sublet these repairs to an independent electronics shop. However, prior Zone authorization should be obtained before the sublet repair costs are submitted on a warranty claim.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
