Some 1982-1988 Cimarrons may experience a condition of sticking or binding front door lock(s) when operating the power door lock buttons.
This condition may be repaired by removing the trim pad and crimping the bellcrank butterfly opening as shown in Figure 1. Crimp the opening about 2mm (5/64") at a time, checking the lock operation after each crimp, until satisfactory operation is achieved. Do not over crimp the opening.
For warranty purposes, use Labor Operation T6292 (RH) and T6293 (LH) at .5 hour each.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
