A March revision to the 1984 Labor Time Guide microfiche has been published. All Time Changes, Text Changes, and New Operations are "flagged" with change indicators as described in the Labor Time Guide Foreward (Frame A-3). Dealers should receive this revision by March 31.
In response to several requests asking to have Serviceman Bulletins published on microfiche, more than once a year, we have also included a 1984 Serviceman Bulletin microfiche (white header) with this (3/84) Labor Time Guide revision. This new 1984 Serviceman Bulletin microfiche includes 1984 bulletins through the end of February and will be updated with each new Labor Time Guide revision hereafter.
Zone authorization, Policy Code "A", has been removed from operation L2300 "Converter, Exhaust Catalytic Replace". This change has been made in the 1984 Labor Time Guide (3/84) revision. This change will also apply to all past models as well. We will publish this change for 1980 through 1983 models in our next past model Labor Time Guide microfiche updates.
During the months of December and January, we received 27 Request for Review letters - 10 in December and 17 in January. Of these requests, 26% resulted in a time allowance "Increase", 15% provided "New Operations", while 11% received other "Favorable Action". The most active zone was New York, which submitted 26 % of these requests.
The "Honorary Mention Award" goes to Cashman Cadillac in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their request resulted in an additional .5 hour for "ADD:to replace the Manual Shaft Seal" in operation K6500 "Pan and/or Gasket, Transmission Oil - Replace" (325-4L). This time change applies to all models (1980-1984).
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
