The new 1984 Cadillac Labor Time Guide microfiche has been published and should be delivered to dealers by September 15.
A new column has been added to the 1984 Labor Time Guide for the FWD C-car. However, due to the delayed announcement of this new car line, time allowances will not appear in the C-car column of this initial publication. These times will be added in a 1984 Labor Time Guide revision, just prior to the formal 1984 FWD C-car announcement. Remember, the 1983 RWD C-car has been changed to a D-car in 1984 and the times will now appear in the "D" column.
The paint "Material Allownace conversion Chart" has been changed to include a price increase in paint material (effective September 15, 1983). This chart also includes "clear coat" and "enamel" paint which will be used on the 1984 FWD C-car.
Other changes include moving the "Digital Cluster Componnets" from the "Accessories" Section (R1500) to the "Electrical" Section (N41280) and moving the "perforation Corrosion Repair" operations (A9952-A9957) from the "Panel Repair" Section to a new "Corrosion Perforation Repair" Section (S5050 thru S5590).
The GRAM microfiche update package is scheduled for distribution by October 17 and will include revisions to past model (1979-1983) Labor Time Guide microfiche. These revisions will be published in their entirety so all LTG fiche may be discarded. The time changes published in these revisions are a direct result of the "Request For Review" Program and dealers are encouraged to continue using this effective system.
During the months of May, June and July, we received 63 Request for Review letters - 29 in May, 17 in June, and 17 in July. 48% of these requests resulted in positive action (17 time allowance increases and 13 new operations.) The most active zone was New York, who submitted 22% of these requests.
The "Honorary Mention Award" goes to Neill Lehr Cadillac in Northridge, California. Their request resulted in an additional .6 hour being added to Operation J4340 "Coil, Ignition-Replace" on Cimarrons equipped with a vacuum pump.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
