An August revision to the 1984 Labor Time Guide microfiche has been published. All time changes, text changes, and new operations are "flagged" with change indicators as described in the Labor Time Guide Foreword (Frame A-3). Dealers should receive this revision by August 31.
Also included in this mailing is a 1984 Servicemen Bulletinn and Dealer Service Information Bulletin microfiche updates. This August, 1984, update includes 1984 Bulletins through the end of July, and should replace the previous 5/84 release mailed in May.
A new operation, K5260 "Oil Cooler, Auxiliary - Replace", has been established for the 1985 FWD C440-T4 transmission. Even though it is not included in this 8/84 revision, it may be used for warranty purposes with a .5 hour time allowance. This operation will be included in our next microfiche publication.
During the months of April, May and June, we received 83 Request for Review letters which involved 57 different labor operations. Of these 57 operations, 14 resulted in a time allowance "Increase", 9 provided "New Operations", 14 received some other form of "Favorable Action" and 20 remained the same. The most active Zone was Dallas, who submitted 21 of these requests.
The "Honorary Mention Award" goes to Marvin K. Brown Cadillac in San Diego, California. Their request was the first of many which resulted in the time allowance increases and detailed replace procedures for th HT4100 AIR pipes as published in Serviceman Bulletin 84-85 (Group 6E, No. 9). These labor operation number and time changes are included in the 8/84, 1984 Labor Time Guide microfiche revision.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
