Cadillac Technical Service Publications published a bound edition of the 1984 Cadillac Product Service Publications (PSP) Manual, two complimentary copies of which were sent to each Cadillac dealer in June '85. These bound manuals are intended as a convenient and organized replacement for the looseleaf bulletins currently contained in the gold 1984 PSP binder. They should be placed in an area of your service department, such as customer lounge, where they will be readily accessible to owners. The looseleaf 1984 bulletins may be removed from the gold binder, but the binder and tabs should be retained for 1986 PSP bulletins.
The PSP Manual is also a handy and valuable resource for service technicans. A limited quanity of the bound 1984 Cadillac PSP Manuals are available at a cost of $10.00 each under catolog number H-2152B from Helm, Inc., Post Office Box 07130, Highland Park, Michigan 48203. An order form is included on the rear of this bulletin. The PSP Manual may also be ordered on the 1986 Cadillac Service Publications Order Form.
The bound PSP Manual contains indexes for the 1982, 1983, and 1984 model years. Each index provides a listing of Cadillac PSP's relating to certain diagnostic repairs, maintenance, parts, or use and care items. An index lists only those PSP's written during the time period specified in the heading of the index. Some PSP's written during the model year refer back to and are intended for use on previous model vehicles. For instance, there could be bulletins written pertaining to the 1982 model year listed in the 1982, 1983, and/or 1984 indexes.
The index is separated into groups for quick reference to specific parts of the car (i.e., Group 6A-Engine-Mechanical, Group 7-Transmission). By reading through the subject portion of a particular group, owners can determine if there are any bulletins that they would like to read. Summaries of some PSP's in easy-to-read language, are included at the end of the index, Refer to the summary number column of the index to identify these PSP's.
Also included in the PSP Manual are all Serviceman Bulletins published in the 1984 model year, as well as pertinent Dealer Service Information Bulletins, Dealer Product Campaign Bulletins, Dealer Emission Bulletins, Special Policy Adjustment Bulletins, and Dealer Communication System messages.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
