Some 1982-1987 Cimarrons equipped with an automatic transaxle may experience an engine stall condition when engaging reverse or drive.
This condition may be caused by sediment build up on the electromagnetic portion of the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid. This may cause the TCC solenoid to stick in the applied position engaging the TCC at all times.
To repair this condition install a new design TCC solenoid, P/N 8652379, refer to Figure 1, and the "Automatic Transaxle Unit Repair" section of the appropriate year Service Information Manual.
For warranty purposes use Labor Operation K6520 at .7 hour.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
