LIGHT THROTTLE DETONATION NEW PROM MAY REPAIR-P/N

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985-1986 CIMARRONS EQUIPPED WITH 2.OL L-4 ENGINES AND AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE

Some 1985-1986 Cimarrons equipped with a 2.OL L-4 engine and automatic transaxle may experience a condition of detonation (spark knock) under light to medium throttle.

This condition may be repaired with one of the following service PROMS: the federal emissions, P/N 16122999, or the California emissions, P/N 16123000. Both can be used to service 1985 and 1986 automatic Cimarrons.

Refer to the Service Information Manual, Section 6E-B, on "Detonation/Spark Knock" for other causes of detonation.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation J6364 at .5 hour.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
