SHIFT LEVER NOISE IN 4TH GEAR P/N'S FOR 3RD/4TH SYNCHRONIZER

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985 AND EARLY 1986 CIMARRONS WITH 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSAXLES (MR3) AND 2.0L L-4 ENGINES

Some 1985 and early 1986 Cimarrons with 5 speed manual transaxles and 2.0L engines may exhibit an objectionable shift lever rattle/buzz noise. The condition occurs when the transaxle is in 4th gear while driving at a constant speed or under light acceleration. This noise may be caused by a run out condition between the 3-4 synchronizer and the 4th speed input gear.

The noise condition can be corrected by replacing the following parts:

Part Description Part Number ---------------- ----------- Fork - 3rd & 4th Shift 94451039

Synchronizer Assembly 94249573 3rd & 4th

Gear - 4th Input 94139576 (39 Teeth)

For warranty purposes use operation number: K3100 for 5.9 hours.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
