REVISED: ELEC. CLUSTER EXCHANGE PROCEDURE

MODEL: 1985 AND 1986 CIMARRONS

This Bulletin replaces Bulletin 85-1-10 which should be destroyed.

The optional Cimarron electronic cluster is covered under the new car limited warranty Electronic Component Coverage for 48 months or 50,000 miles which ever occurs first.

When diagnosis of the Cimarron electronic cluster indicates replacement, the following procedure should be used:

1. Call the service center at American Yazaki Corporation's toll free number 800-421-8108 (Michigan dealers 800-421-0174) and order a rebuilt cluster, part number 25081527. Calls may be placed 24 hours a day.

When calling, the American Yazaki technician will request the following information:

A. VIN Number,

B. Owner complaint/observed condition,

C. The diagnostic checks that were used to determine that the cluster required replacement. The Yazaki technician will attempt to confirm if the problem is cluster related or car system related.

D. If the problem condition involves the odometer, a mileage figure will be required. American Yazaki will ship a replacement cluster with that mileage pre-set.

2. For conditions that do not affect the odometer, the mileage memory chip must be transferred from the inoperative cluster to the replacement cluster. This is the only transfer of parts required. If the problem condition involves the odometer the mileage chip is to be left in place and returned with the cluster.

3. Complete the green form enclosed with the replacement cluster and return it with the inoperative cluster. The inoperative cluster must be shipped back to Yazaki at the following address in the reusable container in which the replacement cluster was received.

Care should be exercised when packaging the electronic cluster to prevent damage in transit.

American Yazaki will ship replacement cluster's prepaid for repairs within the new car limited warranty via Federal Express 2-day delivery service. The dealership will be invoiced by American Yazaki Corporation for the cluster. The charges will be $125.00 for repair costs plus a $150.00 core charge. American Yazaki will provide core charge reimbursement to the dealer upon receipt of the inoperative cluster. All exchange units will be identified as rebuilt clusters. Consistent with all Cadillac cluster exchange programs, the core charge amount must be paid or the inoperative cluster returned to the repair center within 30 days of receipt of exchange stock. Failure to do so will result in the dealership losing the privilege of using the exchange program. Dealers should apply for 0.2 additional hours for administrative allowance as "Other Labor Hours".
