SERVICE BRAKE PART NUMBER (REDUCES PEDAL EFFORT)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987 AND EARLY 1988 CIMARRONS

Some 1987 and early 1988 Cimarrons may exhibit a condition of hard brake pedal. To repair this condition, replace the original front brake pads with the new lining material part number listed below.

Owners should be advised that some brake squeal may be associated with the new lining material, particularly in warm weather and periods of heavy brake usage.

NOTE: The new pad is to be used for pedal effort complaint vehicles only and not as a general Cimarron service pad replacement.

Do not refinish the rotors when installing the new pads unless absolutely necessary due to external damage. Light surface rust and circumferential grooves in the rotor faces up to a depth of .015", caused by the original pads, will not adversely affect brake performance.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
