LACK OF POWER OR LONG ACCELERATION TIME

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1988 CAVALIER MODELS WITH ----------------- 2.0L L-4 (VIN CODE 1) AND 2.8L V-6 (VIN CODE W) EXCEPT Z24

An "as built" condition exists on the 1988 Cavalier vehicle that over time can cause customer comments of "lack of power", "doesn't accelerate", "slow", etc. An immediate under-hood inspection should be made to see if the hood blanket is restricting the fresh air intake of the air cleaner.

A section of the hood blanket should be cut out, per the figure.

Vehicles built prior to VIN JJ146831 or J7129705 may require this repair.
