1995 OLDSMOBILE AURORA WITH 4.0L ENGINE (VIN C - RPO L47)
NEW OIL FILTER ADAPTERS AND OIL PRESSURE SWITCHES WENT INTO PRODUCTION ON 4.0L AND 4.6L ENGINES JANUARY 18, 1995. FEATURES OF THIS NEW ADAPTER INCLUDE AN ALL ALUMINUM BODY, STEEL PLUG AND LARGER THREADS TO MOUNT THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH.
THE NEW OIL FILTER ADAPTER MAY BE USED ON ALL MODEL YEAR 4.0L AND 4.6L ENGINES. WHENEVER INSTALLING THESE NEW OIL FILTER ADAPTERS ON ANY 4.0L OR 4.6L ENGINE BUILT PRIOR TO THE ABOVE MENTIONED DATE, ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING:
1. THE ATTACHING THREADS FOR THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH HAVE CHANGED FROM A 1/4 INCH TO 3/8 INCH SIZE, THEREFORE, WHEN A NEW OIL FILTER ADAPTER IS USED, A NEW OIL PRESSURE SWITCH WITH THE 3/8 THREADS MUST BE INSTALLED.
2. THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCHES MUST NOT BE USED INTERCHANGEABLY BECAUSE THE G CAR SWITCH IS A COMBINATION SENSOR FOR INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAY INFORMATION AND PCM SIGNAL INPUT.
3. THE PART NUMBER WITH AN **ASTERISK** INDICATED MUST BE USED WHENEVER AN OIL FILTER ADAPTER REPLACEMENT IS NECESSARY ON A VEHICLE WITHOUT AN EXTERNAL OIL COOLER PACKAGE. THE OIL FILTER ADAPTERS REMOVED FROM THESE VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH A "U" SHAPED TUBE. THIS TUBE MAY BE DISCARDED SINCE THE REPLACEMENT ADAPTER IS EQUIPPED WITH A "CAST OVER" PORT AND PLUG WHICH MUST BE INSTALLED BEFORE INSTALLING ON THE ENGINE.
REFER TO THE FOLLOWING PART NUMBERS WHEN ORDERING THE NEW OIL FILTER ADAPTER AND OIL PRESSURE SWITCHES.
