INOPERATIVE DRIVER OR FRONT PASSENGER COURTESY LAMP

SUBJECT: INOPERATIVE DRIVER OR FRONT PASSENGER COURTESY LAMP (REMOVE RETAINER TO SHEET METAL BEHIND SWITCH)

MODELS: 1995 CADILLAC SEVILLE

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT ON AN INOPERATIVE DRIVER OR FRONT PASSENGER COURTESY LAMP.

CAUSE:

COURTESY LAMP RETAINER TO SHEET METAL BINDS THE SWITCH RESULTING IN THE INOPERATIVE CONDITION.

CORRECTION:

REMOVE RETAINER TO SHEET METAL BEHIND SWITCH BY USING THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE:

1. REMOVE WINDSHIELD PILLAR GARNISH MOLDING.

2. REMOVE SUN VISOR FROM HEADLINER TO PARTIALLY LOWER HEADLINER.

3. REMOVE COURTESY LAMP FROM HEADLINER, SEPARATE COVER, LENS AND SWITCH FROM HOUSING.

4. USING DIAGONAL SIDE CUTTERS, REMOVE FRONT (SWITCH SIDE) RETAINING CLIP FROM COURTESY LAMP (SEE FIGURE 1, ITEM 1).

5. INSTALL COURTESY LAMP TO HEADLINER.

6. ASSEMBLE COVER, LENS AND HOUSING.

7. SUN VISOR TO HEADLINER.

8. WINDSHIELD PILLAR GARNISH MOLDING.

FOR VEHICLES REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY, USE:

LABOR OPERATION NUMBER: N1440 (RIGHT LAMP) N1441 (LEFT LAMP) USE PUBLISHED LABOR OPERATION TIME.
