INCORRECT REMOVAL PROCEDURES ARE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE UNIVERSAL GARAGE DOOR OPENER (UGDO) TRANSMITTERS. USE OF THE 1994 MODEL YEAR PROCEDURE FOR REMOVAL WILL DAMAGE THE UGDO. DUE TO A DESIGN CHANGE TO REDUCE THEFT OF THE UGDO TRANSMITTER, THE ON-VEHICLE SERVICE PROCEDURE HAS CHANGED FOR 1995-96.
- ON-VEHICLE SERVICE IS LOCATED IN SECTION 9K-23 OF THE 1995 SERVICE MANUAL AND IN SECTION 9P OF THE 1996 SERVICE MANUAL.

REMOVE -
1. REMOVE TRIM PANEL.
2. TWO SCREWS.
3. SLIDE FORWARD AND DOWN FROM HEADLINER.
4. ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR.
5. DEPRESS TAB ON LOWER FRONT OF GARAGE DOOR OPENER FROM INSIDE OF HOUSING.
6. SLIDE GARAGE DOOR OPENER OUT THE ACCESS DOOR OF HOUSING.
INSTALL -
1. SLIDE GARAGE DOOR OPENER INTO ROOF CONSOLE THROUGH ACCESS DOOR.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE TAB SNAPS INTO PLACE.
2. POSITION OVERHEAD CONSOLE, SLIDE REARWARD AND UP.
3. TWO SCREWS.
4. TRIM PANEL TO OVERHEAD CONSOLE.
UGDO WITH SUNROOF: =================
REMOVE -
1. USING FLAT BLADED TOOL, POP TRIM PLATE FROM COVER, REFER TO FIGURE 1, ITEM 1 (PRY FROM FRONT SECTION OF TRIM PANEL; REAR SECTION HAS TABS, FRONT HAS FLEXIBLE RETAINERS).
2. ONE SCREW, REFER TO FIGURE 1, ITEM 2.
3. SLIDE FORWARD AND DOWN FROM HEADLINER.
4. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION.
5. DEPRESS TAB ON LOWER FRONT OF GARAGE DOOR OPENER FROM INSIDE OF HOUSING.
6. SLIDE GARAGE DOOR OPENER OUT THE ACCESS DOOR OF HOUSING.
INSTALL -
1. SLIDE GARAGE DOOR OPENER INTO ACCESS DOOR OF CONSOLE.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE TAB SNAPS INTO PLACE; AN AUDIBLE CLICK WILL BE HEARD.
2. POSITION OVERHEAD CONSOLE, SLIDE REARWARD AND UP.

1. RELEASE THE TABS AND REMOVE ROOF CONSOLE TRIM PLATE, REFER TO FIGURE 2, ITEM 2.
2. RELEASE TABS RETAINING SUNROOF SWITCH/ROOF SUPPORT.
3. MAP LAMP SWITCH CONNECTORS FROM CONSOLE.
4. ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR FROM GARAGE DOOR OPENER.
5. ROOF CONSOLE, REFER TO FIGURE 2, ITEM 1.
6. DEPRESS TAB ON LOWER FRONT OF GARAGE DOOR OPENER FROM INSIDE OF HOUSING.
7. SLIDE GARAGE DOOR OPENER OUT THE ACCESS DOOR OF HOUSING.

5. CONSOLE TRIM PLATE.
