J 28733-B Front/Rear Spindle Remover

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the brake rotor from the wheel hub/bearing. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement .

Wheel Drive Shaft Nut

Tip
Use a suitable tool to prevent the wheel hub/bearing from rotating while removing the axle nut.

Tighten
230 N·m (170 lb ft)

Wheel Bearing/Hub Bolt (Qty: 4)

Tip
Disconnect the wheel speed electrical connector, if equipped.

Tighten
152 N·m (112 lb ft)

Wheel Bearing/Hub

Tip
Use the J 28733-B to press the axle shaft from the wheel/bearing/hub.

Preliminary Procedures

Wheel Drive Shaft Nut

Tip
Use a suitable tool to prevent the wheel hub/bearing from rotating while removing the axle nut.

Tighten
160 N·m (118 lb ft)

Wheel Bearing/Hub Bolt (Qty: 3)

Tip
Disconnect the wheel speed electrical connector.

Tighten
130 N·m (96 lb ft)

Wheel Bearing/Hub

Tip
Use the J 28733-B to press the axle shaft from the wheel/bearing/hub.

Dust Shield

Tip
Keep the dust shield in position while replacing the wheel bearing/hub.
