No Crank Or Starter Clicks

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

A customer may comment the vehicle will not start at times. A starter click may be heard during the event giving it the appearance that the battery has a low state of charge. If tested during the condition, it can be observed that the engine control module (ECM) is pulsing the starter relay turn on signal (ckt 447 YE), causing the relay to pulse and the starter solenoid circuit (ckt 6 PU) to pulse. The cause may be internal to the ECM.

Replace the ECM.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
