Preliminary Procedure

    Note: Seal the A/C system ports after the hose is removed in order to keep A/C system from being contaminated.

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the air conditioning (A/C) system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  2. Remove the right engine mount strut. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement - Right Side.
  3. Remove the windshield washer solvent heater. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Heater Replacement.
  4. Remove the injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement.
  5. Remove the upper tie bar. Refer to Front End Upper Tie Bar Replacement.

A/C Evaporator Hose Retaining Nut

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
16 N·m (12 lb ft)

Sealing Washer

Tip
Remove and discard the sealing washer. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement.

A/C Evaporator Hose Retaining Bolt

Tighten
6 N·m (53 lb in)

A/C Evaporator Hose Retaining Nut

Tighten
16 N·m (12 lb ft)

Sealing Washer

Tip
Remove and discard the sealing washer. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement.

Tighten

Tip
Leak test the fittings using J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector.
