Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning in the Preface section.

Warning: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning in the Preface section.

Note: Service the exhaust system hangers individually in order to retain the support for the exhaust system.


    Object Number: 1670483  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the exhaust hanger to the rear suspension support bracket bolt.

  3. Object Number: 694211  Size: SH
  4. Apply a suitable lubricant to the exhaust hanger rod in order to ease the removal of the hanger.
  5. Pull outward on the exhaust hanger in order to remove it from the exhaust pipe hanger rod.

  6. Object Number: 1670485  Size: SH
  7. Remove the rear exhaust hanger to hanger bracket nut.

  8. Object Number: 722481  Size: SH
  9. Apply a suitable lubricant to the rear hanger rod in order to ease the removal of the hanger.
  10. Pull outward on the rear exhaust hanger in order to remove it from the tail pipe hanger rod.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 722481  Size: SH
  1. Apply a soapy solution to the rear hanger rod and the inner diameter of the rear exhaust hanger in order to ease the installation of the hanger.
  2. Press the rear exhaust hanger over the tail pipe hanger rod.

  3. Object Number: 1670485  Size: SH
  4. Position the rear exhaust hanger to the rear exhaust hanger bracket.
  5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  6. Install the rear exhaust hanger to hanger bracket nut.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  8. Apply a soapy solution to the exhaust pipe hanger rod and the inner diameter of the center exhaust hanger in order to ease the installation of the hanger.
  9. Press the exhaust hanger over the exhaust pipe hanger rod.

  10. Object Number: 1670483  Size: SH
  11. Install the exhaust hanger to the rear suspension support bracket bolt.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  13. Lower the vehicle.
