Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement FE7

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
  4. Remove the ABS sensor. Refer to Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement.
  5. Remove the wheel speed sensor ring. Refer to Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Ring Replacement.

Rear Wheel Hub/Bearing Bolt (Qty: 4)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tip
Disconnect the park brake cable from the backing plate.

Tighten
152 N·m (112 lb ft)

Backing Plate

Tip
Pull the backing plate from the control arm to remove.

Rear Wheel Bearing Nut

Tighten
200 N·m (147 lb ft)

Rear Wheel Bearing Washer

Tip
Remove the washer from the hub.

Rear Wheel Hub

Tip
Remove the hub from the bearing.

Rear Wheel Bearing

Tip
Press the wheel bearing out the rear of the backing plate.

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.

  4. Object Number: 293367  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the ABS sensor wire connector.

  6. Object Number: 105034  Size: SH
  7. Remove the wheel bearing/hub bolts.
  8. Remove the wheel bearing/hub and brake shield.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 105034  Size: SH
  1. Clean the lower control arm face and bore before installing the wheel bearing and hub.
  2. Install the wheel bearing and hub and brake shield to the lower control arm.
  3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Install the wheel bearing and hub retaining bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the wheel bearing and hub retaining bolts to 68 N·m (50 lb ft).

  6. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.

  7. Object Number: 293367  Size: SH
  8. Install the ABS sensor wire connector.
  9. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
