TELLTALE ASSEMBLY SERVICE PARTS

The C-car Telltale Assembly (P/N 25024183) is being replaced by service technicians as a complete assembly when, in most cases, it is not necessary. The Labor Time Guide does not publish an operation for replacing this "assembly" because the Lens (P/N 25024479), the Fuel Gage (P/N 6433147), and the Printed Circuit (P/N 25022312) can all be serviced separately without having to replace the entire Telltale Assembly.

The Labor Time Guide lists these operations as follows:

N4130 "Lens, Telltale - Replace" .4 Hour N4680 "Gage, Fuel (Dash Unit) - Replace .3 Hour N5160 "Circuit, Printed - R&R or Replace .5 Hour

The only component part that cannot be replaced separately is the plastic housing. The housing, however, can be repaired in most cases using a two-part epoxy glue. When a repair is made, the closest existing operation N5160 "Circuit, Printed - R&R" with a time allowance of .5 hour should be used.

In an unusual circumstance where the Housing must be replaced (i.e., cosmetic reasons), the complete Telltale Assembly has to be used and Zone authorization obtained. The suggested time allowance for replacing the Assembly is .4 hour.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
