Cadillac and General Motors Service Parts Operations have agreed on a program to remanufacture logintudinal HT4100 engines. New service engine assemblies are curretnly available but will be phased out as the remanufactured assemblies become available. Engines will be rebuilt to exact specifications established by BOC Detroit Powertrain Engineering.
Vital to the success of this program is accumulating a sufficient number of used HT4100 cores to fill the rebuilder's assembly processes. GMSPO will soon add a core charge to the six longitudinal engine assemblies currently available. Effective immediately and until this core charge is established, all longitudinal HT4100 engine replacements should have the used assemblies shipped to:
Fred Jones Manufacturing Company Main Street & Fred Jones Avenue Oklahoma City, OK 73106
Engines (assemblies only-not parts) should be loosely reassembled, if necessary, and packed in the engine crate used to deliver the new engine for shipping. Assemblies may be sent ground freight collect to the remanufacturer.
Longitudinal engines are used in:
1982-1994 Broughams, DeVilles 1982-1985 Eldorados, Sevilles 1985 Broughams
Part numbers affected are:
3634702 3634703 3634704 3634705 3634706 3634707
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
