FRONT DOOR GLASS - DISENGAGED FROM FRONT RUN CHANNEL 1980 TO 1983 SEDAN DEVILLES, BROUGHAM SEDANS AND LIMOUSINES
Front door glasses that become disengaged from the front run channels on 1980 to 1983 Sedan DeVilles, Brougham Sedans and Limousines can be corrected by using the following procedure:
1. Remove front door trim panel and loosen water deflector as described in Section 5 of the Fisher Body Service Manual.
2. Operate door glass to the full up position and adjust the belt stabilizer to glass to reduce inboard-outboard movement.
3. Remove bolts retaining front run channel to inner panel (2 locations).
4. Using a 9mm (11/32") drill bit, drill a new hole 8mm (5/16") rearward of the existing hole at each location (Figure 1).
5. Reinstall front run channel to new location.
6. Before installing trim panel, operate glass while inspecting for smooth operation.
For warranty purposes, use applicable Front Run Channel Operation Number and labor time plus 0.1 other labor hour for drilling. Use trouble code 92.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
