VINYL TOP TRIM RETAINER SERVICE PROCEDURE

VINYL TOP ASTROROOF OPENING TRIM RETAINER REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

The vinyi top astroroof opening, trim retainer on 1982 and 1983 Sedan deVilles, Broughams and Limousines may be removed or replaced using the following procedure:

Removal

1. Remove astroroof housing as described in Section 8 of the appropriate Fisher Body Service Manual.

2. Using a 1/8" drill bit equipped with a stop as shown in Figure 1, remove twenty-four (24) rivets securing retainer to roof panel support.

3. Remove retainer.

Installation

1. Install a 1/2" x 1/4" thick piece of saturated urethane tape (Sure Seal RFT 1/4" or equivalent) around the inner edge of the retainer as shown in Figure 2.

2. Position retainer to roof and secure with twenty-four (24) large head steel rivets, 1/8" diameter x 1/4" length (USM blind rivet 5D42BSLF or equivalent).

3. Install astroroof housing as described in Section 8 of the appropriate Fisher Body Service Manual.

For warranty purposes, use Operation B2870 at 3.0 hours.
