ISC MOTOR JUMPER HARNESS JUMPER CONNECTOR MIS-marKED

ON SOME EARLY BUILT ELECTRAS EQUIPPED WITH A 4.1L ENGINE, AN IDLE SPEED CONTROL (ISC) MOTOR JUMPER HARNESS WAS USED TO HELP PRODUCTION PEOPLE CONNECT THE HARNESS AND ISC MOTOR CONNECTOR EASIER AND MORE EFFICIENTLY. WHEN USING THIS JUMPER TO ADJUST THE MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM AUTHORITY ON THE ISC MOTOR, SOME PRECAUTIONS MUST BE NOTED AS THE HARNESS END OF THE JUMPER IS MIS-MARKED. THE DESIGNATION OF D & C DOES NOT GO TO THE D & C TERMINALS OF THE ISC MOTOR, BUT GO TO A & B WHICH IS THE NOSE SWITCH. APPLYING 12 VOLTS TO A & B WILL DESTROY THE NOSE SWITCH. SEE FIGURE 1. ALWAYS CHECK THE WIRING COLORS AND MAKE SURE THE WIRES BEING USED ARE THE CORRECT WIRES AND THEY CONNECT TO D & C AT THE ISC MOTOR CONNECTOR. SEE FIGURE 2.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
