SERVICE MANUAL UPDATES TO 325-4L AUTO TRANS. SECTION

THE FOLLOWING ARE REVISIONS TO THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 325-4L SECTION OF THE 1982 BUICK (REGAL LESABRE ELECTRA RIVIERA) CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL, THE 1982 OLDSMOBILE (CUTLASS DELTA 88 NINETY EIGHT TORONADO) CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL AND THE 1982 CADILLAC SERVICE INFORMATION MANUAL.

A. ACCUMULATOR PISTON IDENTIFICATION

ON PAGES 325-4L-10 AND 325-4L-64 OF THE 1982 SERVICE MANUAL, THE 1-2 AND 3-4 ACCUMULATOR PISTONS ARE IDENTIFIED INCORRECTLY.

FIGURES 1 & 2, SEE ATTACHED, HAVE THE CORRECT IDENTIFICATION FOR THESE PISTONS.

PLEASE CORRECT YOUR SERVICE MANUAL AS FOLLOWS:

1. INSERT A COPY OF FIGURE 1 OVER FIGURES 325-4L-19 AND 325-4L-228 IN YOUR SERVICE MANUAL.

2. INSERT A COPY OF FIGURE 2 OVER FIGURES 325-4L-20 AND 325-4L-229 IN YOUR SERVICE MANUAL.

B. CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY EXPLODED VIEW

IN YOUR 1982 SERVICE MANUAL, FIGURE 325-4L-221 ON PAGE 325-4L-57 REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING REVISIONS:

1. THE VALVE TRAIN NUMBERED 35 TO 37 MUST BE ALTERED TO SHOW THE ASSEMBLY SEQUENCE AS FOLLOWS: (SEE FIGURE 3)

(A) (35) LINE BIAS VALVE SPRING (NEXT TO VALVE BODY) (B) (36) LINE BIAS VALVE (C) (37) BORE PLUG (D) (B) COILED SPRING PIN 2. ALL BORE PLUGS HAVE A SMALL HOLE ON OE SIDE TO AID IN DISASSEMBLY. THE FLAT SIDE OF THE BORE PLUG (WITHOUT THE HOLE) MUST FACE THE VALVE TRAIN WHEN INSTALLED.

PLEASE UPDATE YOUR SERVICE MANUAL BY REPLACING FIGURE 325-4L-221 WITH FIGURE 1 FROM THIS BULLETIN.

(C) 4-3 PRESSURE SWITCH AND PIPE

THE AL AND OK MODELS, OF THE 1982 THM 325-4L TRANSMISSION, WERE BUILT WITHOUT THE 4-3 PRESSURE SWITCH AND PIPE SHOWN ON PAGES 325-4L-6 AND 325-4L-65 OF THE 1982 SERVICE MANUAL.

PLEASE UPDATE YOUR SERVICE MANUAL TO SHOW THIS CHANGE.
